- The hybrid carbon-aramid fabric (width = 100 cm) is a twill woven fabric made from carbon strands and aramid filament yarns into a bi-directional balanced fabric. The carbon and aramid fibers are equally present in both warp and weft directions of the fabric.
- Carbon fibers show high tensile strength, high stiffness (modulus), low weight, electric conductivity, high chemical resistance, high temperature resistance and low thermal expansion. Aramid fibers show high tensile strength, high stiffness (modulus), high impact strength, good resistance to abrasion, no electric conductivity, high chemical resistance, low flammability and high temperature resistance.
- This fabric gives the possibility to combine high strength and good impact resistance in very thin light weight laminates because both properties are present in just one layer of fabric.
- The twill woven hybrid carbon-aramid fabric is mostly used in combination with epoxy resins.
